The Devel's Throne is located just off a dirt road, north of Madrid, New Mexico. The area has been a favorite of rock climbers for years. Unfortunately, the area is posted with No Trespassing signs posted by New Mexico Department of Transportation. The "throne" is a railroad right-of-way, with the tracks passing directly behind the formation on the west side. The formation is a sill of andesite porphyry in the Cerillos Hills. The now near vertical, the andesite intrusion is parallel with the layers of sedimentary rock into which it intruded.
