Artist's Description

This colonial style farm sits on the West side of County Road 17 in Roxbury, Maine. The original home was built in 1786 but was destroyed by fire. It was rebuilt in its original footprint in 1836. The home has been modernized over the years but was unoccupied at the time of this photo. The barn, while not original, is in the style of colonial period. Not seen in this photograph are the low stone walls that divide planting fields. Those walls have been in place since before the United States were born.
